Can I get an estimate over the phone or e-mail?
At Avenue, we’re more than happy to give anyone a free estimate for their repairs. Unfortunately, we cannot give estimates over the phone or by e-mail. Descriptions and photos are not enough for our estimators to provide you with an accurate estimate. Damages often need to be seen at various angles and be measured by hand, something a picture cannot do. The only exception to the rule is for small replacement jobs (ie. Replace a broken mirror or window). But even so, it is very important for the estimator to see your car in order to give you the most accurate estimate for repairs. You can call us for a ballpark, but the range in price will be great.
How long will my repairs take?
We know that you’ll miss your baby while she’s getting her repairs and want her back as soon as possible. Since not all jobs are the same, this is a tough question to answer. The trend is usually that the higher the cost of repairs, the longer it will take. Some jobs have a quick turnaround of 3-4 business days, while some jobs take up to 2 or 3 weeks. Minor jobs can be done in the same day (ie. Replace a broken window, complete a full detail).
Should I pay for it myself or use insurance?
This is a great question and one that can be discussed with any of the estimators in our office. Don’t be alarmed, but the average cost of repairs to any major panel (ie. Bumper, door, fender, etc.) can be $900 or higher. This is a lot of money to pay out-of-pocket. What are the costs when using insurance?
When you use your insurance, you only pay deductible. If your deductible is as low as $100, it would make more sense to use your insurance, even if it’s your fault. But if your deductible is $1000, then knowing what the complete cost would be will really help you determine what to do. You may not know but you can ask your agent how much your premiums would be affected by using your policy. You might be surprised that even if your premium goes up, you’d still save money by using it then paying for your repairs out of your own pocket.
Does my insurance work with your shop?
Yes. In the State of California, you have all the rights. You can choose whatever body shop you want and your insurance company has to comply with your wishes.
